Horizon Steel Frontiers skips PlayStation in bold franchise shift

Ana sayfa / News

A new chapter in the Horizon universe has just been revealed, but don’t expect to play it on PlayStation. Titled Horizon Steel Frontiers, this MMORPG marks a major departure for the series, and not just in gameplay. It’s heading to PC, iOS, and Android, with no release date or PlayStation version in sight.

Unlike Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, Steel Frontiers puts you in the role of a custom-created character, not Aloy. Set in the Deadlands, players will team up with others to take on quests, massive raids, and hostile creatures across a shared open world.

Co-op content isn’t the only hook here. PvP combat is also part of the experience, giving players a reason to sharpen their strategies against each other, not just the machines.

Xiaomi’s new 200Hz Gaming Monitor G24i 2026 hits Europe at a budget price, offering FreeSync Premium and 1ms response time.

The game keeps the visual and combat DNA of past Horizon titles, at least at first glance. Combat looks fast, fluid, and layered with more weapons and tactical options than in previous games. The trailer hints at dynamic group battles and coordinated hunts, though the core loop will be closer to what MMO fans expect: leveling up, collecting gear, and clearing dungeons.

Two official videos have surfaced on YouTube, showing off early footage but fans hoping for a launch date are still out of luck.

It’s not just the gameplay that’s shifting. Perhaps the biggest twist is platform availability. Horizon Steel Frontiers will skip PlayStation entirely at launch, despite the franchise being closely tied to Sony. Instead, the game is coming first to PC, iOS, and Android, under the publishing banner of NCSoft.

Whether this signals a broader multiplatform push or a one-off experiment isn’t yet clear. What is clear, though, is that Guerrilla Games’ universe is expanding in unexpected directions.

MMORPGs live or die on the strength of their world and the people inside it. Horizon Steel Frontiers is taking a bold step by trading its story-driven roots for something bigger, louder, and far more social. That’s risky but it might just work.
